Elimu Kwanza Initiative (EKI) is firmly founded on the Sustainable Development Goals 2030. Our emphasis is hinged on Goal 3 and Goal 5 which are critical for the attainment of Vision 2030.
By and large, we have barely scratched the surface on Sexual Reproductive and Health Rights and Women empowerment. More needs to be done to ensure that no one is left behind in accessing family planning and sexual reproductive services.
No woman or girl should endure Female Genital Mutilation, early/forced marriages and Gender-based Violence. Elimu Kwanza Initiative wants to ensure that no mother loses her life while giving life and no new-born expires before he/she has the opportunity to enjoy life.
It aims to ensure that all those who would like to receive Family Planning Services have access to them.
EKI looks at the society in Baringo County as one huge potential for change as it draws on its strength of transformational work it is doing. SRHR is no longer a peripheral anecdote; it is recognized as most critical in achieving other goals that drive the 2030 Agenda.
We are cognizant of the fact that SRHR was left behind in 2000 when the Millennium Development Goals were adopted hence stunting its progress. This calls for more focus on it and this is where EKI steps in to fill the gaps in Baringo County.
EKI believes that SRHR is intricately linked with the larger development goals like reducing poverty, achieving better health and ensuring equal rights for women and girls across the social, economic and political strata.
We work in the expansive semi-Arid Baringo County which has a population of 700,000, most of it in the rural areas.
